IGP reviews working of safe city authority

Punjab Police Inspector General Arif Nawaz Khan on Friday said that the Safe City Project is an excellent scheme of modern technology that is helping police in many ways ranging from crime control to traffic management in big cities.  The provincial police chief expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting held at the Qurban Police Lines on Friday. The officers reviewed in detail working of the newly launched Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control and Communication Center, nicknamed as PPIC3, as part of the Punjab Safe City authority.  Lahore CCPO Muhammad Amin Wains, Additional-IG Amir Zulfiqar Khan, Muhammad Tahir, DIG Farooq Mazhar, Haider Ashraf, SSP Rana Ayyaz Saleem, Ghulam Mubashir Maiken and CTO Rai Ejaz Ahmed were also present on this occasion besides all divisional SPs of the operation and investigation wings of the city police.  This project of modern surveillance is not only helping police track down criminals but also enabled police to ensure round-the-clock monitoring patrolling police units including Dolphin Squads and Police Response Units, the IGP said. –Staff Reporter

 Sports day at Government College of Home Economics

The 54th annual sports day of Government College of Home Economics Gulberg was held with enthusiasm. Flanked by faculty and students, Principal Prof Dr Ambreen Sagheer welcomed the chief guest, Akram Medical Complex CEO Dr Shehla Javed Akram.  The event began with the recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by flag march by students of different classes. Headgirl Amna Khan, Sports President Zainab Ijaz and class reps led the march. Professor Neelam Imam, Vice Principal Durdana Qaiser and Zill-e-Huma represented faculty in the flag march. College band was also wonderful part of the march. Later the students who had won matches the whole year were awarded certificates, gold and silver medals. The children of nursery school and special education wing (The Rising Angels) also performed. –Press Release

 Campaign against unauthorised number plates and glasses begins

On the directives of National Highways and Motorway Police Inspector General Dr Syed Kaleem Imam, the central zone have launched a three-day awareness drive against illegal glasses and number plates  According to a press relase DIG Mirza Faran Baig reviewed the campaign at Lahore Zonal Office. The DIG said that vehicles with tainted glasses will not be allowed on national highways and motorway and stern action will be taken against the owners after three-day awareness campaign. The vehicles will be impounded and heavy fine will also be imposed in case of violation, he added. He directed the his team to remove such glasses from the vehicles after three days. DIG Mirza Faran Baig asked owners of vehicles using tinted glasses or fancy number plates should immediately remove them as they were in violation of the traffic rules. He said the police would take the same action against unauthorised number plates. –Press Release
