KARACHI - As many as 25 more patients of coronavirus died in Sindh overnight lifting the death toll to 4,157 and 324 new cases emerged when 9,599 tests were conducted.
This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued on Tuesday. He added that 25 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 4,157 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate. Shah said that 9,599 samples were tested which detected 324 cases that constituted 3.4 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 2,820,284 tests have been conducted against which 251,757 cases were diagnosed, of them 91 percent or 228,592 patients have recovered, including 644 overnight.
The CM said that currently 19,008 patients were under treatment, of them 18,460 were in home isolation, 8 at isolation centres and 540 at different hospitals.
He added that the condition of 497 patients was stated to be critical, including 66 shifted to ventilators.
According to the statement, out of 324 new cases, 167 have been detected from Karachi, including 66 from East, 56 from South, 18 from Malir, 14 from West, 12 from Central, and 1 from Korangi. Hyderabad has 31, Mirpurkhas 20, Jamshoro 18, Sujawal 17, Ghotki 10, Matiari 9, Sukkur 8, Badin and Jacobabad 6 each, Nausheroferoze and Umerkot 4 each, Shaheed Benazirabad and Tando Muhammad Khan 2 each, Khairpur, Larkana, Tando Allahyar and Sanghar one each.
The CM urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
18,598 health professionals administered COVID-19 Vaccine in Sindh
As many as 18,598 frontline health care professionals have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in Sindh province, an official at Sindh health department told media on Tuesday.
According to data shared by Sindh health department, a total of 18,598 healthcare professionals have been vaccinated in Sindh province since February 02, 2021 out of which 2,453 were healthcare professionals vaccinated at Khaliq Dina Hall Vaccination Centre Karachi, 1,146 at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, 1,695 at Dow University of Health Sciences Ojha Campus, 2,486 at Sindh Government Qatar Hospital Orangi, 675 at Sindh Government Hospital New Karachi 1,267 at Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad, 666 at Sindh Government Children Hospital, 2,003 at Sindh Government Hospital Korangi No 5 and 1,838 at Malir Hospital.
Apart from Karachi, 1,542 frontline healthcare workers were inoculated against the coronavirus at Liaquat University of Medical Sciences (LUMS), and 2,827 at Shaheed Benazirabad’s MCH Centre.
The data further showed that 14,229 healthcare workers were vaccinated in Karachi in six days out of total 18,598.
