Infant found dumped in garbage

LAHORE  - In a shocking case of apathy, a newborn baby was found dumped in garbage in the Shalimar area on early Thursday.
Police said that body of the newborn was lying in the heap of garbage in Bhogiwal locality as they reached the spot. Some passerby spotted the body and contacted the police by phone. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy.
Separately, a 44-year-old trader was found stabbed to death in his furniture godown in Factory Area, police said. The investigators also recovered a dagger and a knife lying near the half-naked body as they reached the crime scene.
The deceased, identified as Abdul Razzaq, was running a furniture mart at the Fortress Stadium, police investigators said, adding, on Wednesday night Razzaq visited his godown located near Rahmat Chowk in Factory Area police limits.
The complainant, Sharafat Ali told the police that his brother, Razzaq, made last contact with his family late on Wednesday night by phone. Later, the family members rushed to the godown to know about him after his mobile phone was switched off.
“As we entered the godown, we saw Razzaq lying dead in a pool of blood,” a police official quoted the brother of the deceased as telling the investigators at the crime scene. Police say they believe the killers repeatedly stabbed the man. Muhammad Omar, an employee of the trader who used to stay at the godown has been missing since last night, police said. They body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. The police are investigating.
Found dead
A 32-year-old man, yet to be identified, was found dead under mysterious circumstances from Chuhng area. Police said that apparently the man was a drug addict who died because of extremely cold weather since he was sleeping in the open at Multan Road. Some passersby spotted the body and contacted the police in the morning. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. The police are investigating.
