Government strengthening federation by harmonizing with provinces, says Rashid

LAHORE - Information and Broadcasting Minister Pervaiz Rashid yesterday said the Centre was working to strengthen the federation through better harmony with the provinces.
Advancing the cause of strengthening democracy, the PML-N government acknowledged rights of the provinces and let the winner parties form government in the provinces, Pervaiz Rashid said, while talking to media persons. He said due to efforts of the Centre, a better coordination existed with the provinces. The minister said that on the reservations expressed by the Sindh government on the Rangers operation, the prime minister sent Ch Nisar Ali Khan to Sindh to address the same. The PML-N government setting new traditions is addressing concerns of the provinces unlike the past when the Centre exercised authority over them and imposed governor’s rule in that course, added the minister.
To a question on the reservations expressed by the KP chief minister on the facilities provided in the CPEC route in his province, the minister said he would himself talk to Khattak to make him understand the technical aspects of the route. As to the KP grievance over optic fibre on the route to CPEC, he said it was not mandatory to operate Internet.
The minister appreciated positive statements of PPP President Asif Ali Zardari.
