ISLAMABAD - President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain Saturday graced the prize distribution ceremony of the President of Pakistan 31st Gold Medal Golf Championship 2015 and lauded the initiative of Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF).
Speaking at the occasion, Mamnoon Hussain said it was an excellent way to promote cultural exchange in Pakistan, and promote interaction amongst various segments of society.
The championship was the most prestigious golfing event in Islamabad’s calendar year with prize money of Rs 1.6 million. The Serena Hotels in collaboration with the PGF and Islamabad Golf Club (IGC) hosted the championship last year under the banner of their Sports Diplomacy Initiative. The prize distribution ceremony was postponed earlier and now it was successfully organised and widely attended.

President Mamnoon gave away prizes to main event winner Shabbir Iqbal, amateur net winner Major Najam, emerging junior professional Adnan, senior amateur winner Malik Afsar and emerging winner lady Rimsha Ejaz.
The winners of the Serena Hotels Invitational Tournament were South Korean Ambassador HE Dr Song Jun for the diplomatic category and Riaz Pesnani for the main category.
