CLSA willing to exploit existing investment opportunities

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Privatisation Daniyal Aziz on Tuesday said that foreign investors could explore the investment opportunities in energy sector, as the government has indentified 14 public sector entities for privatisation in energy sector.

The minister made these remarks in meeting with a Chinese delegation headed by Zhenyi Tang, Chairman CLSA, a subsidiary of CIITIC. The CLSA is responsible for overseeing the firm’s capital market businesses spanning across more than 10 countries around the world. This investment bank is leading capital market and investment group of Asia and declared No.1 in the region.

Talking to Chinese investors, Daniyal Aziz apprised them about the investment opportunities existing in different sectors of national economy including energy, infrastructure, transportation, communication and agriculture.  Moreover, the minister for privatization said that many of the major privatization of SOEs have taken place during the last four years, and the credit for prioritizing this sector goes exclusively to the incumbent government of PML(N) under the visionary leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Chairman CLSA expressed his desire to exploit the existing investment opportunities in Pakistan and expressed his resolve to expand their business in Pakistan as it would be more preferable than UK; as China is enjoying very warm relations with Pakistan especially in the backdrop of CPEC, where the potential for investment seems more promising. CLSA could help the local investors for investing in local capital market or Hong Kong to which they have an easy access.
