Lahore-Master Paints/Efu Insurance edged past Diamond Paints by 6-4 in the Royal Marketing Pakistan Polo Cup 2018 match played here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Tuesday.
It was a show of Taimur Mawaz Khan and Hamza Mawaz Khan, father and son, as both displayed superb polo skills and hammered a hat-trick each to guide Master Paints/Efu Insurance to an impressive 6-4 triumph. On the other hand, Eulogio Celestino scored a brace for the losing side while Mir Huzaifa Ahmed and Omar Asjad Malhi contributed one goal apiece.
Eulogio Celestino opened the scoring for Diamond Paints off 60-yard penalty hit, followed by an equalizer from Taimur Mawaz, who fired a field goal. After that, Diamond Paints thwarted two tremendous goals – one each by Omar Malhi and Eulogio Celestino - to take a healthy 3-1 lead. Hamza Mawaz then changed the entire game for Master Paints as he hammered three goals in a row to give his team 4-3 lead, which was further strengthened by his father Taimur Mawaz to finish the chukker having 5-3 lead.
The third chukker remained goalless while the fourth chukker was evenly poised as Taimur Mawaz added another goal to make it 6-3 while Mir Huzaifa converted one for Diamond to reduce the margin to 6-4. Today (Wednesday), Olympia Chemical will take on ZTBL at 3:00 pm.
