Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said mechanism is important in order to avert a looming humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Monday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Military Adviser to Saudi Defence Minister Major General Talal Abdullah Al-Otaibi called on COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to bilateral interests and regional security situations came under discussion. The situation in Afghanistan and mutual cooperation were also discussed.
On the occasion, the Saudi adviser while appreciating the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces said that Pakistan’s role for regional stability, border management, and the situation in Afghanistan was commendable.
The COAS said that Pakistan values its historical and brotherly relations with the Saudi Kingdom and acknowledges its unique place in the Islamic world.
He underscored the importance of peace and reconciliation initiatives in Afghanistan.
