LAHORE - The Departmental Promotion Committee of Higher Education Department headed by Additional Secretary (Admin) Ehsan Bhutta considered 1129 cases of lectures for their promotion from grade 17 to grade 18, said spokesman of Punjab government on Friday. The Committee reviewed the promotion cases of 567 female lecturers and 562 male lecturers. Approximately 800 eligible lecturers with complete ACRs were cleared for promotion and remaining cases were deferred due to non-availability of ACRs. After the receipt of their ACRs the remaining lecturers will also be promoted. It is pertinent to mention that the hundreds of lecturer have been waiting for their promotion for more than 20 years. The department created vacancies by dismissing more than 600 absconder lectures and promoting 500 Assistant Professors. The departmental authority has directed lecturers and field officers to complete the ACRs of deferred cases so that promotion notification can be issued at the earliest. Book-launching The inaugural ceremony of a promising poetess Rakhshinda Naveeds book Nainnan Uttren Paar organised by Pakistan Academy of Letters Punjab (PAL) was held here on Friday. Paying tribute to the poetry work of Rukhshinda Naveed, the speakers including renowned columnist Prof Ahmad Aqeel Roobi, Dr Ajmal Niazi, Khalid Ahmad, Director PAL Punjab Altaf Ahmad Qureshi, Dr Abrar, and others said that the poetess has come with variety of subjects in her second book. They said she has equal grip on Nazm and Ghazal. They further said the verses of Rakhshinda Naveed covered every aspect of life with very hardworking and dedication. The speakers were of the view that the poetry of this book was containing amalgamation of new and old traditions, trends, and subjects.
