LAHORE: MQM has demanded of the government to immediately release funds for the Thar Coal Project in order to meet the shortage of electricity till 2013. Iftikhar Randhawa, member coordination committee MQM, along with other leaders of partys Punjab chapter made this demand on Saturday. He also demanded that the government should also take immediate measures to curtail the load shedding and take into confidence the political and social organizations for dialogue to counter the energy crisis. He demanded of President, Prime Minister and Minister Water and Power to resolve the serious issue of energy at the earliest in order to escape from severe public wrath. Meanwhile, Punjab Zakat Council has approved the names of seven members of District Zakat Committee Faisalabad including two lady members. This was decided in the 132nd meeting of the Provincial Zakat Council Punjab held under the chairmanship of Secretary Zakat and Ushr Punjab Nazir Ahmed. Administrator Zakat Mohammad Yusaf Butt, Deputy Administrator Zakat Field Rana Mohammad Sajjad Babar, Kh Abdul Qayyum, Ms Sakeena Shaheen Khan, Moulana Raghib Naeemi and representatives of Local Government, Social Welfare and Finance departments were also present in the meeting.
