KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday allotted the status of senior minister to former home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, who is also Senior Vice President PPP Sindh. According to the CM House, the ruling PPPs Parliamentary Leader in Sindh Assembly Pir Mazhar Ul Haq would be the senior minister in the Sindh Cabinet. The Sindh Cabinet will have two senior ministers, which is a unique in the history of the government affairs of the province. Meanwhile, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, who has been replaced as Senior Minster for Works and Services, on Saturday along with Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani and Sindh Minister Law and Tourism Muhammad Ayaz Soomro called on the chief minister. The CM discussed the post-MQM separation situation of Sindh government with important ministers of Sindh cabinet. Sources said that PPP government has decided to give tough time to the MQM through reviving the commissionerate system. President Asif Ali Zardari has already given nod to reviving the commissionerate system, local government system of 1979, which was enforced by British era. The sources said that after meeting of CM with important ministers, the Acting Governor of Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro signed the ordinance to revive Commissionerate system of local government of 1979. Meanwhile, an official press statement issued from CM House about the meeting of CM with ministers, said that Chief Minister Sindh emphasised that current financial year is being observed as Year of Development in Sindh Province and all departments should initiate, propose and execute development schemes in a atmosphere of spirit to provide maximum facilities to deprived people of province particularly the people residing in rural areas and less developed areas of Urban Cities and towns. He emphasized the need that all ministers should make efforts to complete those on-going schemes which are nearer to completion. Syed Qaim Ali Shah stressed that maximum schemes of Health, Education, Works & Services etc be undertaken and network of roads be spread which is essential for development and progress of the province. Syed Qaim Ali Shah also directed that Gorakh Development project be given priority and necessary facilities be initiated and completed so as to provide recreational facilities to people there. The meeting also reviewed other schemes aimed at to provide facilities to the people.
