Provincial Minister for Information & Archives Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that Price Control Committee all over the province will closely monitor the price-hikers, hoarders and profiteers during the Ramazan in order the to curb their anti-masses activities. This he said while talking to a group of media men here in his office on Tuesday. He said that the magisterial power would be given to officers concerned to discourage price-hike, hoarding and profiteering during Ramazan and strict action would be taken against the violators.

He added ‘Flow of traffic will be maintained during Ramazan in Karachi and other big cities of Sindh so that the people will feel relief in this holy month.’ He said that the government was fully committed to provide relief to the people in Ramazan and all measures would be taken to arrest the activities of price hikers, hoarders and profiteers.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry has taken a serious view over public complaints and press report regarding extra-ordinary hike in prices and sale of sub-standard food items.

He asked the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to strictly maintain the consumer’s equilibrium and ensure stability in prices.

Ijaz Chaudhry noted that increase in the prices of milk, vegetables , meat and grain must be controlled and maintain according to the Commissioner’s / Deputy Commissioner’s price list, as well, he stressed that sale of sub-standard edibles be prevented, in all days including Ramadan-ul-Mubarak.

The Chief Secretary observed that legal action might be taken, against the defaulters, though, they refer any influence, to this effect. He said hoarding may also be discouraged, accordingly. –Staff Reporter
