LAHORE - A schoolboy who sustained bullet wounds during crossfire between two groups in the Shafiqabad area on Monday, expired in a hospital here on Tuesday, the police said.

A day earlier, another boy died on the spot when Lal Alias Lalo and Pathan groups exchanged gunfire following children’s fight in the Malipura area at Bund Road. The 9th class student, identified as Shahryar, 14, was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he died on Tuesday.

Another boy, identified as Muhammad Adnan, 15, also sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot on Monday. Both the boys, police claimed, were passersby and they fell victim to the gunfire which continued for a considerable time, creating panic among the residents. The gunmen of both the groups managed to escape from the crime scene. The police removed the bodies to the morgue for autopsy. The police have also registered a case against four gunmen including Barkat, Mira Jan, Kashif and Lalo on the complaint of Umar Hayat, the father of decedent Adnan. Further investigation is underway.


The rescue workers on Tuesday recovered the body of a 30-year-old man from Ravi River. Police said that the man, yet to be identified, drowned while he was taking bath in the river. Some passersby spotted the body and informed the police. The body was removed to the morgue.
