Lahore - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that China has promised help in reviving economy of Pakistan. The Chinese visit of the Pakistan delegation under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is bound to yield far-reaching results. Terming the visit highly successful he said, it has further cemented Pakistan-China ties and once again proved that China is a trustworthy friend of Pakistan ready to help it out in difficult times. China has assured that it will play an effective role in the revival of Pakistan’s economy.

The Chief Minister said this while talking to media on his return from the visit to China and Qatar at Allama Iqbal Airport.  He said, talks with the Chinese authorities and the executives of the companies on their cooperation in various vital projects of development in Pakistan have been increasingly successful and constructive.

He said that China has assured all out cooperation in making Nandipur power station functional and it is a matter of satisfaction that Dong Feng electricity company has sent a team of Chinese engineers to Pakistan immediately fulfilling the promise. The Engineers will resume work on the site of this project on Wednesday (today). He said that the main focus during his visit to China was on resolving energy crisis in Pakistan. He said that Chinese investors will spend in energy sector in Pakistan while discussions were also held with China government on generating electricity from coal and solar energy. Referring to other projects, the Chief Minister said that in light of an agreement between Pakistan and China, a motorway will be constructed from Karachi to Lahore while metro bus project will be initiated in Karachi on the pattern of Lahore. He said that economic corridor from Kashgar to Gawadar will be of immense benefit to Pakistan while the project will be a new example of Pak-China friendship.

Referring to his visit to Qatar, the Chief Minister said that LNG projects were discussed during his meetings with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and Prime Minister Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani. He said that leadership of Qatar assured that it will extend all out cooperation in resolving energy crisis in Pakistan. In response to a question, the Chief Minster said that he was deeply grieved at the recent incident of terrorism in Food Street, Old Anarkali.

He said that police and other concerned institutions are probing the matter and those playing with innocent lives will be brought to justice.
