LAHORE - The DGTO Field Offices at all the Provincial Headquarters would be established soon as proposal to this regard has been accepted by the government.

This was disclosed by Director General Trade Organizations (DGTO) Javaid Qureshi, who said that necessary leg work for the establishment of DGTO field offices has been completed and as soon as the budget is approved, the offices would be set-up.  The DGTO said that although the his office had been renamed as Regulator of Trade Organisations but it still believes in facilitation to the trade and industry organizations in the larger interests of the economy.

Javaid Qureshi said that exercise had already been started to eliminate the membership of all the trade associations that fail to fulfill criterion laid down for registration with DGTO. He, however, made it clear that there was no need for NoC from the FPCCI for getting registered with DGTO.

The Director General Trade Organizations (DGTO) Javaid Qureshi was addressing the representatives of the Chambers of Commerce, Trade and Industry Associations here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday.

The Chambers and Associations participated in the meeting included: Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sailkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sargoda Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Faisalabad Chamber of Small Traders and Cottage Industry, Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association, All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association, Pakistan Jute Mills Association, Contractors Association of Pakistan, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association, Pakistan steel Line Pipe Association, All Pakistan PVC Pipe Manufacturers Association, Pakistan Steel Re-Rolling Mills Association, Rice Exporters Associations of Pakistan,  LCCI President Farooq Iftihar presented the Address of Welcome and highlighted various issues being faced by the trade bodies while Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad, former Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra and Executive Committee Member Mian Zahid javaid Ahmad also spoke on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar appreciated the DGTO for having an interactive session with the Chambers of Commerce and trade and Industry Associations saying that it would help increase liaison between the two sides.

He said that although the DGTO Office had successfully eliminated a large number of puppet association but still a lot of work is needed to be done in this direction.
