Police-public co-op key to control crime

HAFIZABAD-DPO Muhammad Zubair Darashad has called upon the members of the District Peace Committee to forge greater unity among different sects and keep vigilant eyes on the suspicious characters for maintaining traditional peace during the holy month of Ramazan across the district.He said that Islam taught peace tranquillity and it was, therefore, imperative for all to ensure a peaceful atmosphere. He told the members that security had been put on red alert and cops had been deputed at all the principal mosques and Imambargah particularly at Sehri, Iftari and Traveeh prayers and police vehicles would patrol the whole city.He said that he would himself check the security arrangements. He further said that walk through gates at all entry and exit points at Ramazan Bazaars would be installed to prevent any untoward situation. On the occasion, the members including Maulana Nasrullah Khan Bhatti, Liaqat Khanoo, Aman Ullah Chattha, Rana Khalid Mehmood and Haji Allah Ditta Sajid assured the DPO that they would keep strict vigilance suspicious characters for maintaining peace in the area. Meanwhile, the DPO also called upon the mediamen to cooperate with the police to curb the crime in the society. Addressing his first press conference here, he said that he had devised strategies to eliminate crime and criminals and intensified patrolling by setting up pickets at all exit and entry points of the district. He said that he had made it clear to the cops that he would show zero tolerance towards corruption and would purge black sheep of the department. Replying to a question, he said that visible impact of his strategies would be visible to the media and public soon. He further said that crackdown on POs had been launched and during the past one week police got successful results which would be made public shortly.He underlined that partnership-based and collaborative efforts between policy and public would prove more efficient and effective to preventing crimes and improving the state of law and order.
