SIALKOT - Seven Chaprar villages including Saalehpur, Patwal, Suhailpura, Resmaan, Bara Dari, Beli and Jhumiyaan Dalaalaan were inundated due to overflowing and flooded River Tavi near Chaprar-Sialkot. The local people have started shifting towards the safer places with their cattle and luggage as well.
According to Sialkot Flood Control focal person Malik Abid Awan, the flow of floodwater was 15,000 cusecs there in River Tavi and water level was souring up due to the ongoing fresh spell of heavy rains in the catchment areas in neighbouring Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that River Tavi was low lying near Chaprar villages from where 15,000 cusecs floodwater was passing through, inundating the said villages. He said that the situation was under-control. Relief activities were underway there in these flooded villages by the district administration of Sialkot, he added.
According to the affectees, the standing seasonal crops on hundreds of acres were badly ruined as the fields were inundated in the above-mentioned flooded Chaprar villages.
Ahsan vows to make Narowal
a model district
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal announced to establish an international standard medical college at Narowal, saying that the development of Narowal was one of his top priorities.
He made the announcement while inaugurating the expansion project of Narowal DHQ Hospital and construction of a mosque.
The federal minister pledged to leave no stone unturned for social-economic and educational of Narowal. He said that Narowal would soon be made a model district of the Punjab.
He added that the Punjab government was spending Rs134.5 million on the up-gradation and expansion of Narowal DHQ Hospital, saying that the project would be completed in a stipulated period of two years. He also announced early up-gradation of Narowal DHQ Hospital for providing advanced medical and health cover for the people.
Ahsan said that the construction work of Engineering University Campus at Narowal, University of Gujrat (UoG) Narowal campus, Govt Poly Technical College Narowal and Sports Stadium at Narowal was briskly underway. He reviewed the pace of construction of these projects and directed the authorities concerned to ensure timely completion of these projects.
He said that the government was fulfilling all of its promises and was making efforts to raise the living standard of the people by ensuring early and smooth provision of basic facilities.
PPP, Q MEN JOIN PTI: The PTI continued inducting old political faces into its camp here as PML-Q backed former district naib nazim Ejaz Ahmed from Pasrur, PPP-backed former MLA from AJK Maqbul Ahmed, former UC nazims Rashid Mehmood and Ehsan Ahmed jumped on Imran Khan’s bandwagon.
They announced their political decision to join PTI while addressing a press conference held at Jinnah House Sialkot. PTI leaders Umer Dar, Usman Dar and Kh Arif Ahmed were also present.
