Rain, windstorm disrupt life

TOBA TEK SINGH-Heavy rain and windstorm in wee hours of first day of Eid disrupted electricity supply in tehsils Gojra, Kamalia and Pirmahal. The residents of different localities said that their areas were plunged into darkness after the electricity supply was disrupted due to heavy rain and windstorm. They said that due to heavy rain, scores of uprooted trees fell on electricity lines which disrupted the power supply. Citizens complained that there were few Fesco linemen on duty who failed to restore the power supply which remained suspended from 12 to 36 hours in different areas.
They pointed out that the Fesco staff responded only to the complaints submitted by influential persons and the power supply to the areas where poor reside remained suspended for more than two days.
The power suspension also created water shortage in houses and mosques, they regretted, adding that a large number of people could not even go to the mosques to offer Eid prayer due to the shortage of water.
