BATTAGRAM: A senior commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) with head bounty of one million rupees was killed while an accomplice was injured and arrested after exchange of fire with police here on Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Raja Saboor Khan said that TTP militants attacked a police party the other day killing a cop and injuring another after which police conducted search operation in suburbs of Battagram.

Heavy contingent of police took part in the operation and exchange of fire took place between the militants and police during which terrorist commander heading TTP Shangla and Tourghar identified as Hafiz Nisar was killed while his accomplice was injured and held by police.

Two pistols, hand grenade, Klashinkov rifle and large number of rounds were recovered from the terrorists.

The killed TTP commander Hafiz Nisar was involved in attacks on security forces in Tourghar, Shangla, Battagram and Mansehra and the government had placed one million head money for him.
