DERA GHAZI KHAN -Citizens demanded crackdown on restaurants violating hygiene standards in Traffic Chowk, Pakistani Chowk, Ghanta Ghar Bazaar, Pull Dat, Chowk Churattah etc of Dera Ghazi Khan city.
The district health officer along with a team including Punjab police raided famous food outlet Lasani Chargha House. Team imposed fine of Rs25,000 at the spot, collected sample of expired and substandard chicken stock and warned.
DHO DG Khan Dr. Gul shared with media men and huge crowd of people who gathered there to see the raid scene, that Lasani chargha House administration was violating the food rules and sale of expired / substandard food (chicken pieces) was on full swing on Eid days. Team has collected sample of chicken which seemed 10-15 days old and harmful to health.
DHO said that fine has been imposed for poor hygiene and non-compliance with quality standards and other violations included poor hygiene of the restaurant staff and lack of sanitation of the deep freezer. Chicken pieces at the restaurant were stored in an unclean container /deep freezer placed at roadside.
On this occasion, citizens requested to team that a similar crack down on restaurants violating hygiene standards be conducted in other locality of the city like Traffic chowk, Pakistani Chowk, Ghanta Ghar Bazaar, Pull Dat, chowk churattah etc. A victim of poisonous food Mr. Sajjad Hussain informed media that his whole family including two sons namely 12 years old Abdullah and 08 years old Najeebullah started vomiting due to poisonous chicken pieces which were purchased from Lasani Chargha House. Later on they were hospitalized at Teaching Hospital DG Khan by officials of the Punjab Emergency service Rescue 1122.
Sajjad said that he has lodged a complaint against management of Lasani Chargha House in Police Station civil line DG Khan vide complaint No. Civilines-7/9/2016-68. Manager Lasani Chargha House Shahid denied the allegations, however he admitted that a little quantity of expired and substandard chicken stock was present in the premises of restaurant that was not in use.
