This decision of ECP has raised yet another question over the transparency of General Elections 2018 scheduled for July 25.

ECP has adopted stance that parliamentarians had not provided them enough time for legislation process of placing the details on the website.

In the last elections, nomination forms were made public. No law exists for this purpose but the ECP used its constitutional right.

Experts have warned that concealing the details from the public will influence the transparency of electoral process.

Meanwhile, the ECP has revised the election programme. According to a notification, the candidates now can file their nomination papers until June 11 and the preliminary list of the candidates will also be issued on the same day.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers will now be completed till June 19 instead of June 14. The appeals could be filed against approval or rejection of nomination papers would be filed till June 22.

Last date for deciding of appeals by appellate tribunals is June 27 whilst the revised list of candidates will be published on June 28. Last date for withdrawal of candidature and publication of final list is June 29.
