ISLAMABAD - At the time when the Federation has turned a blind eye towards implementation of the apex courts verdict in the NRO case, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has decided to move the Supreme Court seeking directions for quick implementation of the historic judgement delivered on December 16. Instead of beating about the bush, the Government should implement the apex court order with its true letter and spirit, President SCBA, Qazi Muhammad Anwar said. He further added, The lawyers community now wants to see the acquittal of top guns namely Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Salman Farooqi from NAB courts without any proper jurisdiction. He was addressing the representatives of the lawyers bodies on Tuesday at the Supreme Court. The lawyers gathering was scheduled on the eve of 9th March, the day when the then president Pervez Musharraf sent reference against the incumbent Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to the Supreme Judicial Council. The lawyers will also launch a movement against the Government to mount the pressure for implementation of the apex court order, he said. Office bearers of the Lahore High Court Bar Association will host first meeting on 20th March while Sindh High Court Bar Association on 19th April, he added. He termed recommendations of the Constitutional Reform Committee, led by Raza Rabbani, as a conspiracy against independence of the judiciary. Hamid Khan, former president SCBA, said that the lawyers would carry on their efforts with full zeal against anti-judiciary forces.Rashid A Rizvi, another noted lawyer, alleged the Govt that it was appointing blue-eyed judges in the Sindh High Court as well as was willing to bring some of the PCO judges in the courts. Secretary SCBA, Raja Zulqarnain also announced Rs 10,000 per month pension for senior members of the SCBA, who crossed the age of 70 years.
