LAHORE Dacoits gunned down a 45-year-old storeowner and his worker on offering resistance here at busy Multan Road in Samanabad area and fled away after collecting cash and valuables worth Rs one million, police sources said late Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses said that four robbers, riding on two motorcycles and equipped with sophisticated pistols, appeared outside the Punjab Atta Store, a leading departmental store, situated near Samanabad More at Multan Road on Wednesday evening. The storeowner Muhammad Khalil was busy in cash-calculation before closing down his store when the robbers stormed into the shop and held him up at gunpoint. The robbers also overpowered the security guard, snatched his gun and badly tortured him. As the Khalil offered resistance, the gangsters opened indiscriminate fire on him and his workers. Khalil and his employee Gulzar Ahmed sustained serious bullet injuries and fell down on the ground. The robbers collected cash and other valuables worth Rs one million and managed to escape from the crime scene. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where both were pronounced dead. The police reached the spot when the robbers had fled away.
