Dozens picked in search operation

LAHORE Security agencies have sounded a fresh terror alert across the Punjab following the suicide bombings near the offices of an intelligence agency in Faisalabad and at a funeral in Peshawar which killed more than 60 people. Police sources said here on Wednesday that the law-enforcement agencies have been put on their toes across the populous province to avoid any further untoward incident while massive search operation is also underway in the sensitive areas. The sources also revealed that security agencies picked up dozens of suspects during search operation and shifted them to unknown location for further interrogation on Wednesday. According to police sources, heavy police contingents including plainclothesmen have been deployed around the government installations including the offices of the police force and security agencies while armed-patrolling has also been intensifies in the areas round-the-clock to keep a vigilant eye on the activities of the miscreants. On Wednesday, the top police officers held a high-level meeting to review security arrangements in the province and issued fresh and strict instructions to counter-terror threats in this regard. Police sources also said that additional police force is also on-guard around the leading commercial and corporate centers while policemen deployed around the sensitive installations have been directed to remain on high alert round-the-clock. A good number of policemen have also been deployed around the Punjab Assembly building, Governors House, and the police headquarters. The police have also intensified armed patrolling in the sensitive areas to avoid any untoward incident. The policemen have strictly been directed to keep a vigilant eye on the activities of the miscreants and arrest the suspected persons immediately. The snap checking of vehicles and passengers at all the entry and exit points of the City is also being carried out to keep the situation under control, a police source added. Meanwhile, police sources said that a massive search operation was also underway in the densely populated areas including the areas, where Aghan nationals are residing in great numbers. A senior police officer, when contacted, said that the police are going to implement a comprehensive security plan by identifying sensitive and important locations to avoid any terror incident. He said that the police have been put on high-alert following they received intelligence reports regarding the possible targets of terrorists. He further said that additional policemen have also been deployed for the movement of VVIPs and senior politicians owing the terror threats while several special control rooms have been established to monitor the movement of senior government figures. US activity: Jamaate Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has alleged that fresh wave of terrorism in the country is a US activity aimed at intensifying the psychological pressure for Raymond Daviss release. In a press statement issued on Wednesday, he said that the brave and dignified Pakistani people would not accept the US pressure and the ruler should also have strong nerves. Damage to solidarity: Condemning the terrorist attack at a funeral in Peshawar, Tehreek Minhajul Quran Quaid Dr Tahirul Qadri has said that the recent wave of terrorism is a conspiracy against the solidarity of Pakistan. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said that the terrorists have no relation with Islam and the country and operating for their vested interests.
