Flood Commission granted 6-week time

ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted another six weeks to the Flood Commission constituted by the apex court to probe the causes of breaches in embankments of barrages and canals during devastating floods last year in which millions of people were rendered homeless. A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice Ghulam Rabbani hearing the case inquired from Marvi Memon, one of the petitioners, If you dont have any objection and are satisfied with the performance of the flood commission then it should be granted another six weeks to complete its task. Marvi stated that the commission was doing excellent job and its members were visiting the sites of breaches in embankments of barrages and canals. She said they were satisfied with the performance of the commission. The Chief Justice said another six-week time would start after the completion of eight-week time earlier given to the commission for probing the matter.
