LAHORE – All arrangements have been finalised for the 2-day visit of Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas to Lahore on the invitation of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The CM is personally supervising the arrangements regarding the visit, which could prove to be a milestone in the promotion of friendly relations between Turkey and Pakistan, told a spokesman of Punjab government here on Friday.
A splendid welcome will be accorded to Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas and his delegation on their arrival in Lahore on March 11, he said.
While presiding over a meeting at Town Hall to review the arrangements of the visit, District Coordination Officer Ahad Cheema responsibilities had been assigned to various departments in this regard.
The meeting was also attended by MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir, District Administration Officers and other concerned departments.
The DCO said that the city’s roads will be beautifully decorated with colourful buntings, banners, hoarding and flags of the brotherly countries, to welcome the delegation.
The 24-member Turkish delegation will stay in Lahore for two days and will participate in various ceremonies. On the first day, the Mayor will call on the chief minister in the afternoon and later inaugurate the Lahore Solid Waste Management Project at Town Hall. The same night, he would attend a cultural show at Hazoori Bagh, as Chief Guest.
The Mayor of Istanbul will also inaugurate Bus Rapid Transit System Project on Ferozepur Road and visit the Pak-Turk School, during the visit.
