LAHORE – Speakers at a ‘Balochistan Solidarity Rally’ on Friday warned the federal government against repeating East Pakistan like episode, saying there was no separatist movement and foreign elements were hatching conspiracies against the country.
Addressing Difa-e-Pakistan Council’s rally that started from Chuburji Chowk and ended outside Lahore Press Club, the speakers stressed upon the need to accept genuine demands of the Baloch people who were patriotic and wanted to remain a part of Pakistan. They demanded the government to foil conspiracies of the US and India in the mineral rich province.
“There is need to give share of natural resources to the Baloch people, arrest killer of Baloch elder Akbar Bugti, recover missing persons and stop incidents of recovery of mutilated bodies,” they said. They said that the PPP should keep in mind the fate of all main characters of the East Pakistan episode namely Zulfiqar Bhutto and Sheikh Mujeeb. They also demanded the Army to halt drone attacks and the MFN status to India should be withdrawn before Pakistan’s industry altogether collapses.
Thousands of people from various walks of lives, riding on cars and motorcycles, participated in the Balochistan Solidarity Rally. They were carrying flags and placards and banners inscribed with writings in favour of demands of people of Balochistan and against the US and India. Highly charged participants also chanted slogans against rulers in Islamabad, the US, India and Israel.
Addressing the participants of the rally, Ameer Jamaat-ud-Dawah Hafiz Muhammad Saeed warned the US of Soviet Union-like fate if she continued to hatch conspiracies against Pakistan. He moved a resolution passed by the crowd that called for disintegration of both the US and India on account of gross violations of human rights and international laws. He expressed hope that Pakistan would soon assume a leading role in world affairs if only her leadership learnt to stand on their feet, adding that no ship could cruise through Arabian sea or India ocean besides the vital Nato supplies without Islamabad’s willingness.
Giving details of DPC leadership’s meeting with all genuine Baloch leadership, he said there was no separatist movement in Balochistan and only the US and India were making a baseless propaganda for their nefarious motives.
Yaqoob Sheikh warned Prime Minister Gilani against issuing statements against the DPC leaders for being non-representatives, saying he should instead counter enemy conspiracies.
JI Lahore Ameer Amirul Azeem said religious leaders had issued several warning to the PPP rulers about international conspiracies in Balochistan but they always trumpeted Musharraf like clarification that ‘there is no outside involvement in Balochistan but its all domestic elements.’ Calling the PPP rulers agents of Jews and Hindus, he accused them of carrying out masters’ conspiracy in Balochistan. Tahir Mehood Ashrafi flayed Interior Minister Rehman Malik for calling for trial of Osama Bin Laden’s wives and children, and warned that if he ever did that he would found himself hiding to evade public wrath. Addressing Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Munawar Hasan said that unfortunately, the rulers considered military operation panacea for all ills.
