PPP vows to address Baloch grievances

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed YOusuf Raza Gilani has once again expressed the PPP government’s resolve to come up with concrete and speedy steps for redressing the grievances of the people of Balochistan and referred to his direction to the Governor and CM of the province to bring the estranged Baloch leaders on negotiation table.
The Prime Minister expressed these views during his meeting with Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani, Provincial Ministers and newly elected Senators from the province who called on him at Prime Minsiter’s House here on Friday.
The Prime Minister congratulated the newly elected Senators as the members of the Senate, which is the Upper House and, therefore, has special role in the Federation by virtue of its permanence and equality of representation from each federating unit.
The Prime Minister assured the Balochistan Chief Minister that the federal government and its institutions would fully support the provincial government in its endeavours to improve the law and order situation in the province.
He further said that redressal of the grievances of the people of Balochistan was his top priority and he had already asked the Governor and the Chief Minister of Balochistan to get in touch with the estranged Baloch leaders and bring them to the negotiation table, assuring that their deprivations would be taken care of to their satisfaction.
The Prime Minister said that 2500 Baloch youth had been given jobs and while 2500 were in the process of recruitment in various government departments.
The Senators congratulated the Prime Minister for his outstanding leadership role for steering the democracy out of the crisis situation, which had throughout been fraught with dangers. The holding of Senate elections and the emergence of coalition partners with overwhelming majority in the Senate had certainly scuttled the designs against democracy and indeed against Pakistan, they maintained.
They extended their heartiest congratulations to the Prime Minister on the election of Syed Ali Mausa Gilani with an impressive victory in the recently held bi-elections.
On the request of the Senators, the Prime Minister said that he had directed the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs Division and Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission to resolve the issue of subsidy on tube wells in the province.
Gilani said that he had already spoken to Israrullah Zehri, Federal Minister for Food Security and Research, in this regard who was fairly acquainted with solar technology, with cost effective prepositions, to introduce this futuristic solution in the remote areas of Balochistan.
Those who attended the meeting included, Maulana Abdul Wassey, Senior Minister and Minister for Planning and Development, Muhammad Asim Kurd, Minister for Finance, Haji Mir Ali Madad Jattak, Minister for Road, Ismail Gujjar, Minister for Urban Planning, Jaffar George, Provincial Minister, Jaffar Khan Mandokhel MPA and newly elected Senators were Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hassani, Rozi Khan Kakar, Saeedul Hassan Mandokhel, Muhammad Yousaf Baloch and other officials of the relevant ministries.
