FEROZWALA –Relatives of a 13-year-old girl, who was raped by a constable Nawaz, protested in front of local press club against the Bhikhi police for, what they called, police backing the cop on Friday.
The protesters said the constable is presently performing his duty as the guard of DSP Riasat Javed Cheema at Lahore.
Reportedly, he along with his associate Mehboob, a milkman, had abducted the girl and took her to the Dera of DSP Cheema where they raped her for three days. When the family of the victim girl approached Bhikhi police to register a case the SHO did not register the case against the rapist. Later, the family filed a writ petition in the court of an Additional District and Sessions Judge Rao Abdul Jabbar who ordered the Bhikhi police to register the case against the culprits. The Bhikhi police arrested Mehboob and let the constable escape. The protesters appealed to the CM, IGP, DIG Sheikhupura, Zulfiqar Cheema, and DPO to help them get justice.
