CHICHAWATNI - Local traders and notables praised the performance of police department over the killing of Shabbir alias Shabu Lohri, a notorious dacoit in the area, in an encounter by a team led by the Shahkot SHO on Friday.
In a function arranged by Anjuman-i-Tajiran and people of Shahkot, they appreciated the courage and bravery of the officials. They said that Shabbir had become a symbol of terror in the area and the people felt a sigh of relief after his death. They hoped the police would spare no criminals and anti-social elements.
Sahiwal DPO Rana Ayaz Saleem called Chichawatni DSP Malik Ejaz Hussain, Shahkot SHO Inspector Nisar Ahmed Bhatti, Sub-Inspector Ahmed Hassan, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Ashraf, Arif Butt and constables Ghafoor Ahmed on stage for their encouragement.
He said that they had improved the image of police. He also announced commendatory certificates would be awarded to the officials on their outstanding performance.
Later, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajiran patron-in-chief Syed Abrar Hussain and others presented shields to the DPO, SHO and other officials who took part in the encounter.
Chichawatni Press Club President Muhammad Saeed Akhtar Rana announced the gold medals and awards for the officials.
A large number of the senior police officers and office-bearers from Bait-ul-Maal, Chichawatni Press Club, Anjuman-e-Sahafian were present on the occasion.
