PESHAWAR - Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, President Amir Muqam, who is reportedly mulling to join any other party, has said that the leadership of different political parties are in contact with him but he has not made any commitment with any of them in this regard.
He said all options were open to him. “So far, the leadership of PML-N, PTI and JUI-F have contacted me.
They have asked me to join their parties, but I have not make any commitment, as I will make a decision after taking my provincial cabinet, workers and district-based organisations into confidence,” he said while talking to TheNation here on Friday.
To know as to what his supporters think better for them, including his joining of another party or forming a separate one, he said, he has already started holding a series of jirgas and meeting so that he could negotiate with the public in this regard. “In these talks, the party workers were discussing different choices - forming a separate party, joining PML-N, PTI or JUI-F,” Muqam added. “Besides, joining another party, I have also an option to form a separate party. In this connection, I have also received a good feedback from the workers across the province and Fata.
Even former MNAs, MPAs, Senators, bureaucrats and lawyers have contacted me and gave me assurance of their support, but any decision in this regard would be taken after proper consultation,” he stated.
The seasoned politician said that he never focused on constituency based politics rather he always did politics of national level, and he will stick to his style of politics which was in benefit the province and its people, he said.
He said joining another party is a tough decision and must be taken after careful consideration as it deals with political survival and respect, he maintained.
Muqam said that he would not keep his workers in the dark. “I will take all of them into confidence. “I am still in PML-Q and still its provincial president.” He said that whether to form a separate party or join a political party would be decided soon. “But, this would be the decision of my workers, not mine. I will act upon their recommendations,” he said.
Forming a separate Pakistan Muslim League is also a good option, he said, adding that if they form a party, it would be a representative of the people of this province, as people of this province suffered a lot for the last three decades and are still suffering.
He said this party would provide an alternative leadership in the province so as to put the province out of the crisis and put it on track of progress and development, he concluded.
