RAWALPINDI – Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi, SSP Ghulam Abbas Tarar has said that all U-turns on Benazir Bhutto Road Rawalpindi will be closed after the inauguration of Chandni Chowk Flyover.
He said this after cutting the tape of inauguration of a luxury intercity transport facility at Kainat Stand, Peshawar Road Rawalpindi Cantonment.
The new luxury and inexpensive transport will ply on Rawlapindi-Mianwali route. SSP Rawal Town, Malik Matloob, MD Saeed Express Shiekh Faisal, Malik Ibraheem, other police officers and notables were also present on the occasion.
Tarar said that Punjab government is determined to provide public with latest transport facilities to which the Chief Minister Punjab was very committed. “With the opening of Chandni Dhowk Flyover, the flow of traffic on Benazir Bhutto Road would become better, however the U-turns at Kohati Bazar, Rehmanabad and Sixth Road would be closed down in a bid to further improve the traffic course”, he mentioned.
While admiring the latest and low-cost transport facility, Tarar said it would help the public keep moving expenses within their purchase power and benefit them.
“We would facilitate all such contributions by private sector and encourage the investment for the betterment of public lifestyle”, he said saying more that steps were underway to make better the traffic flow in all inner city routes.
He said, in this connection, the traffic managers would keep close contact with the civic body responsible of removing the encroachments and hurdles in the way of smooth running of transport.
Managing Director of Saeed Transport, Sheikh Faisal said the new transport facility would benefit the people, as it would be run on no-profit, no-loss basis initially for a period of one month. He said the transport fleet of 12 coaches was equipped with all facilities and had been imported especially from Japan. These coaches would initially ply on Rawalpindi-Mianwali route and later on expanded to Lahore and Faisalabad.
