KARACHI - Vision, determination and truthfulness are some of the core values that are embedded in a great leader. These qualities are not only natural but also educationally replicable.
Addressing a workshop on “Building Leadership Capacities”, Karachi University Department of International Relations chairperson Prof Dr Shaista Tabassum maintained that there should be more opportunities for the youth.
Moreover, she highlighted the department’s dynamic culture of intellectual and academic growth and achievements. She said that the Department of International Relations had been actively holding academic events. It is for the first time that a Leadership Workshop was being organised for the students. She thanked the participants for making the workshop a success.
The chief guest, Sindh Youth Affairs Minister Faisal Sabzwari said the Sindh Youth Affairs Department was struggling hard to promote and strengthen the growth of youth leadership.
Syed Nusrat Ali, a trainer at the workshop, presented his ideas on how to be a winner. His focus was on individual empowerment. He said that much could be achieved if individuals could discover the hidden potential in them. Izhar Hussain, a trainer and Director Executive Education at IBA, threw light upon the leadership qualities. He presented a set of principles that could produce great leadership skills if rightly applied. Abid Ali, trainer and former MPA gave his presentation on ‘Communication and Public Speaking Skills’. He highlighted the important ways and techniques that play pivotal role in the development of a strong speaking capability.
Muhammad Ali Mustafa, monitoring and evaluation officer, Ministry of Youth Affairs, shared his experiences with the participants. The workshop attracted around more than 400 participants. The programme ended with the distribution of certificates among the participants.
The workshop was organised by the Department of International Relations in collaboration with the Sindh Youth Affairs Ministry and United Nations Population Fund (UNPF) on Thursday at the auditorium of the ICCBS, KU.
