SADIQABAD - The additional district and sessions judge of Sadiqabad carried out a raid on a primary school near Shahbazpur Chowk area which falls under the constituency of the Punjab governor, and found its building grabbed by an influential landlord who had installed agricultural machinery there and converted it into a cattle den.
The school has been closed for a long period with no sign of teachers and students. On the order of the district and sessions judge of Rahim Yar Khan, the AD&SJ along with police personnel reached the school situated in the NA-195 constituency of Punjab Governor Ahmad Mehmood, and found the Government Girls Primary School of village Jam Muhammad Iqbal closed down. The school is occupied by Jam Iqbal Dhando, a local landlord, who has converted the building into a warehouse for storage of agricultural inputs and outputs. He was also used to parking his Tonga at the building.
During the raid, the local people including Muhammad Aslam, Usman, Waqas, Tanveer, Salamat, Ikram, Kashif, Adeel, Shahid and Muhammad Umar said that the school had been in illegal occupation of Iqbal Dhando for a long time. They said that they repeated remonstrated with the governor about the closure and occupation of the school but to no avail.
They regretted that at one side, the Punjab government had set up a lot of Daanish school by spending billions of rupees but on the other side, it had turned a blind eye to the closed down and grabbed schools.
They also disclosed that not only that one school, but also dozens of other such schools were in illegal occupation of influential persons. They said that their children remain illiterate because of unavailability of the education facility at the government level as they were unable to bear the huge expenses of private schools.
They mentioned that the governor's one son was elected as a member of the National Assembly and the other as that of the Punjab Assembly from the area but they did nothing in this regard for the people's welfare. However, they praised the Supreme Court order to reopen the closed down and grabbed schools.
On the order of Supreme Court, District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Ilyas issued these directives to the Sadiqabad judges to report about he closed down schools of their respective areas.
PRAY FOR KARACHI VICTIMS:  During a condolence reference held at the PML-N's district secretariat on Club Road, PML-N City President Muhammad Amir Shahbaz said that because of the willful negligence of the federal rulers, terrorists were busy carrying out terrorist activities across the country.
Condemning the killings of dozens of people in Karachi attacks, he said that the terror attacks in the country especially in the economic hub hurt evey human being's sentiments particularly the Muslims'. If given an opportunity, the PML-N would eliminate terrorism from the country, he said.
He said that the PML-N could steer the country out of crises. The meeting also passed a resolution, demanding that the government should take a stern action against the perpetrators. The participants also prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and for early recovery of the victims of the Karachi attacks.
The PML-N leader from Rahim Yar Khan also said that his party would make a clean sweep of the general elections across the country.
