KARACHI - A police inspector was shot dead on Northern Bypass within the limits of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station.

He was identified as Nawab Ali Shaikh, 38, who hailed from Shikarpur.

According to SHO Malik Nawaz, the victim was on duty when two armed men riding a motorcycle came close to him and shot him multiple times. However, the assailants, managed to escape. He was shot four times and died on the spot. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

Separately, Nazia, 40, wife of Ahsanuddin Siddiqui, was shot dead in Hyderabad Colony within the limits of Jamshed Quarters police station. Police officials said that the victim was the resident of same area. The incident took place when she was crossing the road near her residence.

Initial investigation suggested that two armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at a Suzuki Alto car but a bullet mistakenly hit her. Police officials said that the man traveling in the car was also escaped and police was trying to trace him as he was the culprits’ target while further investigation was underway.
