Lady drug smuggler held in Lakki



LAKKI MARWAT – Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a lady narcotics smuggler and seized from her a huge quantity of hashish near Kala Manjiwala village.
“On a tip-off, a police party headed by SHO Mashal Khan stopped a coach bound for DI Khan from Peshawar and marked a suspected female passenger,” said an official.
He said that the law enforcers recovered four kilograms of hashish from the luggage of female passenger identified as Khialoo alias Rozeena.
“She was arrested and a case was registered against her under relevant section of law in Lakki police station,” the official maintained. In another incident, a contingent of Ghaznikhel police station raided over narcotics dens in Tajazai locality and arrested three drug traffickers including Latifur Rehman, Irfan and Latifullah.
A police official claimed that the arrested men were selling heroin in the area. He said that police recovered 180 grams heroin packed in small packets from them and registered separate cases.
Meanwhile, District police Officer Abdul Rashid took serious notice of traffic mess in Lakki city and other towns of the district and directed traffic wardens to improve the situation at the earliest.
The district police officer ordered initiating action against illegal vehicles’ stands and rules violating drivers and transporters.
Religious parties office bearers elected
Meanwhile, local leaders of three religious parties held a meeting on Saturday to elect office bearers of Mutahidda Deeni Mahaz district chapter.
MDM Provincial Vice President Zubair Anjam presided over the meeting which was attended by local leaders of JUI-S, JUI-N and ASWJ.
The participants unanimously elected Maulana Habibur Rehman of JUI-S and Maulana Hakim Ameer Nawab of JUI-N as president and general secretary of Mutahidda Deeni Mahaz respectively.
Other office holders include Maulana Umar Farooq and Malik Haji Muhammad Ali Maidadkhel as vice presidents, Maulana Hidayatullah Chishti as deputy general secretary, Maulana Faqeer Gul Rehman as finance secretary and Maulana Muhammad Khan Haqqani as information secretary.
The new office bearers said at the meeting that MDM leaders would take enthusiastic part in the forthcoming elections with the aim to serve the nation in a better way. They said that the component parties of MDM would field consensus candidates in the polls to give a tough time to the aspirants of other political parties.
They called upon the leaders of other religious parties to unite under the banner of MDM and launch a collective struggle for religious harmony and enforcing of Sharia in the country.
