Tribal elders from NW strongly opposes military operation in the agency

Peshawar- Tribal elders of  from  North Waziristan Agency today opposed a possible military operation in the area on saying that any operation in the area will multiply  the problems being faced by the people will increase manifold.

Malik Wazirilstani, a member of the tribal jirga said that if the government would take decision of military operation in North Waziristan, from which anti-state elements were taken full benefits, and push the country into civil-war. He said that the use of force and that strategy has been failed in Federally Administrated Tribal Areas, during last a decade, he added.

He strongly opposed the possible military operation in the tribal agency, urged the civilian and military leadership to scrap any such aggression plan, which could hamper peace-negotiation efforts. Accompanied by the Tawani Khan Wazir, and tribal elders, Mr Waziristaini said, a large number of innocent civilians, including women, children and aged, had killed and left many other injured in during so-called war against terrorism in Fata.

Similarly, he said the education, health and road infrastructure had also badly damaged. He said tribesmen were deliberately kept in backwards in all fields.  He said around 20,000 families have migrated from North Waziristan, due to recent unannounced military assault in the tribal agency, which were compelled to live life in open sky, and without any proper livelihood facilities at their makeshift camp in settled areas of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 

Tribesmen are patriotic citizens of the country, which rendered lives for protection of borders, without any incentive, Mr Waziristani said. The tribal elders criticized the incumbent government for following pro-American policies of former rulers, which want to assault on innocent tribesman, by calling them as extremists and terrorists. They strongly criticized the statement of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Quaid and PPP leaders, for presenting tribesmen as terrorists and anti-state people.

Mr Waziristan said the former PPP government had issued permit of killing to innocent people, with the hand of Black-Water. He said the MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain had always talked about division of the Pakistan, which also mention during public meeting several occasions.

The tribal elders demanded the government immediate make arrangements for food and proper shelter facility from the thousands of internally displaced families from North Waziristan Agency. They also demanded the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and other military high officials, to scrape the plan of military assault in the NWA agency.
