Islamabad - Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad police has arrested 12 persons including four women for their alleged involvement in looting the residents of the capital under the garb of maids.

The police also recovered gold ornaments worth millions of rupees, cash Rs 410,000 and mobile phones and weapons from their possession. According to details, senior police officials took strong exception of dacoity incidents committee by maids and assigned task to SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas to trace the perpetrators of such incidents. The SP (Investigation) constituted special teams which succeeded to nab house maids involved in looting the residents after getting jobs there. The police also nabbed other criminals involved in various dacoity incidents.

The gangsters involved in looting houses in guise of maids have been identified as Shafia wife of Farooq, Safia wife of Muhammad Safdar, Kausar wife of Munawar Ali and Naheed wife of Manzoor Ali. They confessed to have looted various houses in Islamabad along with their male accomplices including Farooq son of Muhammad Ali and Riaz son of Muhammad Din. They confessed to have looted houses of Ghulam Abbass, resident of Dhoke Malia on June 23, 2013; Anwer Bibi, resident of sector F-11/3 on August 19, 2015; Shakeel Raza Shah, resident of sector E-11 on May 7, 2013; Javed Akhtar Bhatti, resident of sector F-10/2 on August 1, 2012; Temur Khan, resident of sector F-11/3 on December 10, 2012; and Asad Bhatti, resident of sector I-10/2 on August 11, 2007.

Police recovered 35 tola gold ornaments, Rs 230,000 and two 30-bore pistols and ammunition from their possession. They also confessed to strike at various houses in Karachi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Mirpur in AJK. Likewise, two other dacoits Abdul Razaq son of Taj Muhammad and Fareed son of Saeed were also arrested by SIU police as they along with their other accomplices looted shop of Shafi Ullah in Mughal Market, Tarnol, on June 17, 2015 after fastening watchman Jehanzeb. Police recovered a 30-bore pistol and looted cash worth Rs 100,000 from them. They confessed to have committed various dacoities in Islamabad and Gujranwala and revealed that one of their accomplices Mehboob alias Bhoja was gunned down by Satellite Town Police Gujranwala during a dacoity bid.

Another accused Saeed son of Muhammad Mumtaz was held for taking away bag from vehicle of Najma Firdous at Lake View Park. Police also nabbed a proclaimed offender Saqib Hussain son of Fiaz Ahmed who was wanted to Industrial Area police in a crime case while Saad Naseem was nabbed for his alleged involvement in fraudulent activities and embezzling million of rupees of Naeem Akhtar.

Meanwhile, Bani Gala police have booked an official of Bahria Enclave for criminal breach of trust and dishonesty. Arif Shafique, general manager Kohinoor Nills Lahore, reported to the police that he purchased a 10 marla plot in the said housing scheme against Rs 6.5 million but later he found that there was no plot on ground. Arif complained to the police that he contacted Irfan Hameed, who deals on behalf of the housing scheme, many times but the latter could not give him satisfactory answer about the plot and the payment he made for the purpose. The police have booked the Bahria Enclave official under section 406 of PPC and further investigation is under way.
