Land mafia has converted the sites of two water filtration plants into the cattle dens in village Korpur and Nathu Kalair of Pasrur tehsil.

As per local people, the Pasrur TMA had established these water filtration plants several years ago for providing potable water for the people. However, these plants have been lying unattended since their establishment as they had never been made functional even for a single day, the people said.

These water filtration plants are located in constituency NA-114 Pasrur of Zahid Hamid, the federal minister. While taking advantage of the negligence of officials of Pasrur TMA, the mafia is stated to be influential due to which, thousands of people have been lying deprived of the drinking water. Local social, religious, educational and political circles of Pasrur expressed grave concern over the situation.

OFFICES DEPRIVED OF INTERNET: Internet service has been disconnected at the offices of Sialkot traffic police for the last week due to which people are suffering great ordeal in submission of applications for driving licences.

Traffic police officials said that they have brought the critical situation into the notice of high-ups of the PTCL in Sialkot, Lahore and Islamabad for early rectification of internet. They said that hundreds of visitors have to go back disappointed due to the critical situation. The traffic police remained unable to entertain them in submitting their data to Punjab Traffic Police (headquarters) Lahore for the issuance of driving licences.

Meanwhile, DSP Naveed said that an inquiry has also been ordered following the grievances of visiting people.

SEMINAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) organised a seminar to raise awareness against corruption at Govt College Women University (GCWU) Sialkot here the other day.

Addressing the participants, NAB Deputy Director Muhammad Sajid and GCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Farhat Saleemi stressed the need of making all-out efforts both collective and individual basis to purge the society of corruption. They termed corruption as a cancer and blamed it for decline in every field of life.

A large number of students and teachers also attended the seminar.

FEMALE TRAFFICKER HELD: The Daska police have arrested a female drug trafficker identified as Shahida Bibi alias Muskaan from BRB Canal Bridge Daska and seized 1.5 kg of poppy from her possession.

DSP Daska Lal Muhammad Khokhar informed that the police have sent the accused behind bars after registration of a case against her.
