ISLAMABAD - Top seed Sara Mansoor to meet Mahin Aftab in the ladies singles final of the 1st Chairman JCSC Open Tennis Championship 2018, after thrashing Mahvish Chishti in straight sets in the semifinals played here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Complex on Friday.

It was simply no match in the both semi-finals, as both Sara and Mahin proved that they are far superior than their opponents. In the first semifinal; Sara was up against former national ladies champion Mahvish Chishti, but Mahvish was nowhere near to what she used to be in her peak days. Sara started the first set on whirlwind fashion and wrapped it up 6-1 in 25 minutes while she won the second with same margin of 6-1 in 20 minutes. In the second semifinal, 15-year-old Mahin Aftab hammered Esha Jawad 6-1, 6-0. Mahin took the first set 6-1 in 22 minutes while in the second set, she simply outclassed Esha to take it 6-0 in 18 minutes.

In the men’s doubles final, top seed pair of M Abid/Shahzad Khan had to dig very deep to overcome spirited brothers’ pair of Muzammil/Muddasar in three hard-fought sets. Abid/Shahzad took the first set 6-1, but lost the second 1-6, before bouncing back to win the third set 10-4.

In the senior 45 doubles final, second seed pair of Hameed-ul-Haq/Mushaf Zia beat top seed pair of Irfan Ullah and Mehmood Khan in straight sets 7-5, 6-4. In the boys U-18 final, M Shoaib bagged the title after beating Huzaifa Abdul Rehman in an entertaining match but Huzaifa retired in the third set when he was 1-2 down. Huzaifa won the first set 6-4, but Shoaib bounced back in style to take the second set 6-2 and was leading 2-1, when Huzaifa shook hands and conceded the set and match, as he was not feeling well. In the boys/girls singles U-10 final, Hamza Roman lifted the title after beating Jamal Shah 4-2, 4-5 (9), 4-1.
