Karachi - The US Ambassador Anne W. Patterson, held a meeting with the MQM leadership in Azizabad here Friday and expressed American government's resolve to "interact and consult with all democratic forces" of the country. "The United States is committed to cooperate with the newly installed elected government on a wide range of issues that are important to both countries", Ambassador Patterson told the MQM leadership at Khurshid Memorial Hall. On her arrival, MQM's parliamentary leader and MNA Dr. Farooq Sattar and other prominent MQM leaders welcomed Ms. Patterson and the Consul General Kay L Anske. Ambassador Patterson, who had held a meeting with MQM chief Altaf Hussain in London last month, reaffirmed the U.S. government's full support for the success of the ongoing political process in the country and the US resolve to encourage Pakistan's continued democratic development. The American Ambassador noted that the vibrant port city of Karachi is one of the world's largest metropolitan areas and a key-trading hub in the global economy. She emphasised the importance of security and the continuing political reconciliation among all political elements in the city.
