Complicity or incompetence

US invades Pakistan and occupies a chunk of Pak territory and then converts it into a 'No Go area. Even the President and the PM would have to seek permission to enter it. But they are in no hurry to enter it. However, they were in a hurry to praise the occupation to the skies. They lost no time in ingratiating themselves with the US authorities, even with the US media and rushed off to foreign countries as if nothing had happened. But shaken by public outrage, they wake up with a start to start shouting foul. Made to choose between complicity and incompetence, they choose incompetence. Meanwhile the occupier is free to take anything away from the occupied territory, or plant anything there to show as evidence later on. It appears they are free to change its version of what actually happened as many times as it likes. The President who normally does all the talking in this parliamentary form of government is silent for once. He asks the PM to do the honours, a PM whom people stopped listening to a long time ago. KHURSHID ANWER, Lahore, May 9.
