Nawaz Sharif promised the nation a bullet train from Peshawar to Karachi if he comes into power. How can the Pakistan Railways, which has lost the ability to run even slow-moving passenger trains, be enabled in a matter of five years to run a bullet train? The promise perhaps can be fulfilled by diverting the country’s already scarce resources toward this project. That shouldn’t prove difficult since the governments that have ruled us have been known for their warped sense of priorities.
