LAHORE - The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday claimed to have arrested a most wanted human smuggler whose name was placed in red book.

An FIA spokesman said the accused, Zulfiqar Bhatti, was placed on serial number one in red book of human smuggling. He was arrested when he was enjoying a recreational tour of Murree.

Bhatti had escaped from courtroom when his bail was cancelled.

HEROIN SEIZED: Meanwhile, the Customs authorities on Saturday arrested a passenger carrying around 500 grams heroin while trying to smuggle it to Bangkok from Allama Iqbal International Airport.

A Customs spokesperson said the passenger, Muhammad Ali, was travelling for Bangkok when officers intercepted him at the airport during briefing process. He had concealed heroin in sensitive parts of his body and had also swallowed heroin filled capsules.

The accused was scheduled to travel by Thai airline flight TG-346.

He has been admitted to the Services Hospital to recover remaining quantity of heroin.
