Islamabad - Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) is holding national conferences in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar. The basic theme of these conferences is “The role of Literature and Writers in making of Peaceful Society.” 

The purpose of these conferences is to bring the present situation in the knowledge of the people and to highlight the ideas, thoughts and views of the writer’s community.  The writers, poets and intellectuals from all over the country will participate in the upcoming conferences and present their papers on the theme of the conferences. Folk music and mushaira on Pakistani languages will be held in these conferences.

The second conference in this regard is being held in Punjab province on May 11 to 12, 2015.  Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage will inaugurate the conference on May 11,2015. The last session of the conference will be presided over by Dr Nizam ud Din, Chairman, Higher Education, Punjab.  Atta ul Haq Qasmi will present keynote address in the first session. The writers from all over the country will present their papers on the theme of the conference in five literary sessions of the conference. The inaugural session will be held on 11th May 2015 at 9:30AM, at University of Management and Technology, Lahore.

The literary sessions will commence at 12:00 pm, afternoon on the same day of the Conference. First session will be presided over by Naimat Ullah Gichki while Dr Fozia Chaudhry, Dr Nasrullah Kan Wazir, Dr Fayyaz Chandio, Dr Munazza Yaqoob, Dr Zia ul Hassan, Qasim Sayyal, Prof Shifa Kakar and Dr Muhammad Amin will present the papers. Second session will be presided over by Intezar Hussain while Zahid Masud, Prof Sajjad Haider Parvez, Dr Rauf Parikh, Dr Sughra Sadaf, Naseer Memon, Dr Anwar Ahmed, Prof A.R. Dad and Dr Humayun Huma will present their papers.

The third session of the conference on the same day will be presided over by Sehar Gul Bhatti and Khalid Faryad Darhiwal, Dr Rafique Sandelvi, Prof Anwar Jamal, Ahmed Hussain Mujahid, Dr Attiya Syed, Mubeen Mirza, Mehmood Ahmed Qazia and Naimat Ullah Ghichki will present papers in the session. A mushaira based on Pakistani languages will be held later in the evening of same day in which writers from all over Pakistan will participate. Zafar Iqbal will preside over the mushaira while Mushtaq Sufi will be the chief guest on the occasion.

The four session of the conference will be held at 9:30am on May 12, 2015, which will be presided over by Dr Humayun Huma whereas Naseer Baloch, Abdul Khaliq Taj, Bushra Naqi, Dr Mujahid Mansoori, Pinnah Baloch, Dr Izhar Uallah Izhar, Dr Mirza Hamid Baig, Dr Ehsan Akbar and Masood Ashar will present their papers.

The fifth literary session of the conference will be held at 12:00 pm on same day, which will be presided over by Prof Muhammad Amin while Dr Saeed Bhutta, Bashir Ahmed Soz, Nausheen Safdar, Naeem Baig, Ahmed Atta Ullah, Hafeez Khan, Sehar Gul Bhatti, Dr Saadat Saeed and Intezar Hussain will present their papers in the session.

The concluding session of the conference will be held at 3:00 Pm in the evening, which will be presided over by Dr Nizam-ud-Din, Chairman, Higher Education Punjab.

The presidents of all literary sessions will present their report and participants of the conference will express their views. Later on in the evening Cultural program/music will be held at 7:00 pm on the second day of the conference. The conferences in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa will be held in June 2015.
