BAHAWALNAGAR - Two outlaws were killed in a shootout with police while another managed to escape here in the limits of Shehr Farid Police on Saturday.
According to police three outlaws, riding a bike, intercepted three persons - Ghulam Sarwar, Akram and Shafiq in Sodha Basti area in the remit of Shehr Farid Police.

 The outlaws snatched Rs100,000 from Ghulam Sarwar, Rs7,000 from Akram and a cellphone from Shafique. Later, the bandits fled away. However, Akram etc alerted the police through emergency service 15. Following the call, a police team comprising personnel of five police stations chased the outlaws. However, the outlaws got holed up in standing corn crop field near the tube-well of Karam Khan.
As soon as the police contingent there, the outlaws opened fire on them which they retaliated. The crossfire continued for sometime and when the firing stopped, the police found two outlaws identified as Mazhar Dadpotra and Kashif alias Kashi dead in the crop.
Their third accomplice, however, made good his escape from the scene. The Shehr Farid Police registered two cases one of the robbery and other of the shootout under different sections and started search for the runaway outlaw.
