LAHORE - The All Pakistan Clerks Association staged a sit-in outside the Punjab Assembly yesterday to press for the demand of increase in salaries, regularisation of adhoc/contract employees, provision of house rent and marriage grant to the tune of Rs4 lakh.
Carrying placards and banners inscribed with writings in favor of their demands, dozens of APCA men continued sit in outside the PA. The participants chanted slogans against the government. Blockage of the main road caused huge traffic mess in the heart of the city till late night.
Provincial President APCA Haji Muhammad Irshad said that the people at helm of affairs were paying no heed to the legitimate demands of employees. He announced to continue sit in till acceptance of all demands.
Meanwhile, employees held a demonstration outside Directorate General Health Services yesterday to protest against transfer of their 27 colleagues.
The protesting employees demanded withdrawal of transfer orders and removal of DG Health Mukhtar Hussain Syed. They announced to continue protest today (Tuesday).
