Dist nazim Mardan rejects suspension order

MARDAN - The suspended District Nazim Mardan, Himayatullah Mayar Monday strongly condemned KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for issuing one month suspension order to him and district naib nazim.

“The KP Chief Minister has no power to suspend him or niab nazim, and this act of chief minister is against the law, constitution and democracy,” he added.

He expressed these views while addressing the emergency session of District Assembly. Suspended Naib Nazim Asad Ali and 61 members of the council were present in this meeting.

Himayatullah Mayar added that KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on 6th May issued an order in which he stated that according to the local government section 35, he suspended District Nazim Mardan Himayatullah Mayar and Naib Nazim Asad Ali for not passing district budget from the assembly.

He added that according to the Local Government Act, KP Chief Minister has no power to suspend the district nazim and naib nazim.

He added, “We passed district budget with simple majority and 59 members of the assembly signed the documents.”

He added that later on, 60 members of the assembly extended the mentioned budget in the assembly session. He added that on 22nd October provincial governments sent them the salaries and non salaries budget.

He added, “I presented it before the assembly on 7 October and on 9th and 10th October, assembly members debated on this budget and on 10th October we passed that budget.”

He added that that developmental and non developmental budget of the district was passed on 16th January. He added that later on members of the district assembly extended the budget. He added that later on, assembly members including opposition parties PTI and JI members filled the form and presented their schemes in the assembly and later on these schemes were approved in the District Development Committee (DDC) headed by Deputy Commissioner Mardan and other committees.

He added, “On 18th December a complaint was registered against us and later on an inquiry committee probed the issue, however, the provincial government did not take any action in the last five months on this report but suddenly chief minister took action against us.”

He alleged that chief minister and Provincial Education Minister Mohammad Atif Khan used various illegal tactics to finish ANP, JUI-F, PPP, PML-N and independent candidates in district government in Mardan.

He alleged that for this purpose, they try to change the loyalty of the members of the district assembly but when they failed in all these tactics, chief minister through an illegal order suspended him and naib nazim for one month.

On this occasion out of 112 members, 62 were present and they through show of hand gave vote of confidence to District Nazim Himyatullah Mayar and District Naib Nazim Asad Ali.

Later on the assembly session was postponed for unknown time. All the 62 members of the assembly rejected the chief minister’s order of suspension.
