PIMS male nurse confesses to being habitual rapist

Islamabad - The rape accused of a disabled girl at PIMS has confessed committing the crime repeatedly at the hospital with different female patients before he was caught on April 8, sources in the local police said.

The accused during interrogation made startling revelations to the investigators, saying he used to rape the female patients at the hospital bed. The investigators told The Nation that Krishan Kumar, a Hindu by religion, had got married just two weeks before he sexually assaulted a disabled girl from Swabi at the PIMS ICU bed on the night falling between April 8 and 9, adding “Minutes before raping the disabled girl, he was in contact with his newlywed wife on his cell phone.”

“The cell phone data of the accused revealed that he was in contact with his wife minutes before he assaulted the girl,” they said. The investigators said that some weeks before the incident, Krishan Kumar apparently converted to Islam and chose ‘Kabeer’ as his Muslim name. He also used to offer prayers at CIA police station during the interrogation, they added.

The local police believed that poor arrangements and incompetence on part of the PIMS administration led to the incident. A report prepared by the police on the incident said the incident took place on the night falling between April 8 and 9 at around 2:30am when Dr Shahab, Shahida (nurse) and sanitary worker Morris were on duty in the ward where the disabled girl was under treatment. The hospital administration came to know about the incident at around 10:00am in the morning same day; however the administration did not conduct medical test of the victim. The report said that the administration committed a criminal negligence by not conducting the medical test of the victim which led to the complications. Samples for medical test were taken on April 11, two days after the incident, the report added.

According to the PIMS administration, it seems attempts were made to rape the girl but the accused could not succeed. They said that full facts of the case would come to surface after the issuance of medical report. Soon after the matter became public, the accused along with his wife fled to Haripur from where he was later arrested.

Krishan Kumar, a male nurse at the PIMS had allegedly raped a 22-year-old under-treatment disabled girl, lying on the bed of surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. Karachi Company police had booked him under section 376 PPC. The victim girl (N), a resident of Topi tehsil of district Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had been under treatment at the PIMS for the past two months.

Earlier to this incident, Krishan Kumar had also been booked in 2014 by Margalla police over the charges of raping a Christian girl but later he succeeded to make an out-of-court settlement with the victim and was released.
