OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Waleed Iqbal, the grandson of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal and son of Dr Javid Iqbal, on Wednesday join Imran Khans Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Waleed announced his decision at a news conference held at his residence. Imran Khan and Waleeds father and mother were present on the occasion. Waleed Iqbal said he sided with Khan to rid Pakistan of corruption. He said: The PML-N is no more relevant in the countrys politics. It should not dare compete with the PTI. The future belonged to my party. Speaking on the occasion, Imran said the PTI was struggling for a change in the country and Waleeds decision to join the party will help it implement its agenda. He said time would prove that Waleed had taken a right decision. All those who want to join the PTI will have to disclose their assets, Imran again declared. Khan said people in the PPP and PML-N also wanted change, saying that many of them attended his rally at Minar-e-Pakistan. He said the two parties together could not stop the change that was sure to come. Taking about the next general election, he said he would field 1,000 candidates. The PTI chief believed that Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari would never disclose their real assets, given the implications involved. Because if they do that, they know they will have to face charges of corruption. Mr Khan, on this occasion, also announced formation of a cell to unearth real assets of corrupt politicians. He said the assets declared by PML-N were fake. He hoped to see some new faces joining his party who were sincere and hardworking. Reacting to accusations coming from the PML-N, Imran clarified that his wife, Jemima, belonged to a Christian family and hence the accusation of his getting support from Jewish lobby was totally baseless. About his properties, Imran said that he owned a 300-kanal house in Islamabad which he bought from his earnings. He, however, did not disclose the source of that income.
